Latent Semantic Indexing

TheLatent Semantic Indexing (LSI) looks like a complicated concept at a first glance but, in truth, it’s a very simple thing. The only problem is that this is the kind of name nerds like those at Goggle like to come up with.

In my words: It’s the process Goggle uses to index info, (not just referring to the key-words.)

Told in a simple manner that’d come to be the key-word analysis, relation and comprehension processed used within a document or a web-site. In other words: it’s the comprehension of semantically related text and, by using this techhique, are related by Goggle with the content of your site to catalog it and mark them as relevant on their results.

When it comes to SEO, what we need to understand is that, to carry out a web-positioning strategy, it’s important to add up content with words related to a theme and not only focused in one mere key-word but in the whole content of the site. Which means that it’s vital to know which words Goggle has linked together at semantic level to properly use them.

If you use the semantic search command “~” (in the same key as number 4 in pc: looks like you didn’t know it…) twice ~cheap ~cheap you’ll see that different words related with the search. This example shows up how Goggle locates semantically related words and gives us an idea of relevant words in contents. We’ve run the search in the .com version since, obviously enough, when going for an English search, we’ve got more related researches. You can see that we used the words “travel” which they related with flights, vacation & tourism: that’s an example of how to improve your contents and get ahead of the competency.

Google offers us a lot of tools to guess how the key-words are being related. Here’s an example: quan you search a word in the search slot and click on the “search tools” button you’ve got several options to see how they related and give meanign to each word. Another example: they use a dictinoary when it comes to related searches.

As we’ve already explained, latent semantic indexing discovers the words and phrases related at a semantic level which allow the search engines to find the content relevant for any search word. With a fitting content optimization strategy, it helps Google on its process of Semantic Indexing to promote the contents’ relevance. Depending on other optimization techniques then it’s important to prepare the conetnt which your site has so that Google relates and offers your site for different key-words in the results of the search.

That’s why it’s important to define from the start what would be the content strategy of a website since it’ll mark the results in the time spent searching. Taking that into account it’d be hard to position using the word “chess” if your web’s about “press”.

You know how to create new content and use all words to semantically index in a SEO Strategy. What’s important apart from using them in the right context is to make sure they’re gramatically and ortographically correct.
